Simple and practical, keys to successful product development,
by JP Liew.

About Me

From working with semiconductor testing machines, writing software, to making lots of commercial products, I have gathered many years of experience in full product development life cycle.

Developing a product is not as easy as it seems, from designing and selecting the right component at the right price and right time requires a lot of discipline, dedication and patience. One single two cents component shortage will lead to the delay of the project launch. Ten days of public holiday at the manufacturing plant will either caused months of delay or increase of production cost if the product is to be made elsewhere. Sometimes, even over engineered software tool used in the development will lead to failure of a whole project.

That is why I nitpick on every bits and bytes in my projects so that they will stand a fair chance of being a successful project. I also focus a lot on simplicity by making error-prone complex processes simple and practical as I believe in anything that can go wrong, will go wrong.

A designer knows he has achieved perfection not when there is nothing left to add, but when there is nothing left to take away.

Client Success Stories

Workflow

① Research

Specifications and requirements gathering, ensuring client's expectation is achievable.

② Design

Schematic, PCB and coding concepts. Functional checking with visual simulation.

③ Prototype

Raw materials procurement, sample assembly, optimising, debugging and testing. Client's feedback.

④ Production

Launch preparation, coordination of final production locally or overseas.
